Atopic Eczema case

Updated: Nov 26, 2023

A 36-year-old woman presented with a four-year history of seasonal atopic eczema characterized by redness, itching, difficulty sleeping, frequent bowel movements (2-3 times/day), low-grade fever at night, and severe thirst. Dietary preferences included bread, noodles, snacks, and sweets.

Initial diagnosis revealed blood deficiency with heat. Did Acupuncture to alleviate pain and itching, accompanied by the herbal formula ‘Jing Jie Lian Qiao Tang,' for one week, yielding limited improvement. And still has a low-grade fever.

Subsequently, ‘Dang Gui Yin Zi’ was used for two weeks, resulting in improved symptoms but with the onset of loose stools. The patient prefers to wash the local area with hot water.

Further assessment indicated cold-wrapped heat, prompting the use of ‘Fang Feng Tong Sheng San.’ for one week.

Symptoms significantly improved, with the patient experiencing no pain or itching and having bowel movements once a day. A one-year follow-up revealed no recurrence during the winter season.
